In recent years, Maria Dybbroe has established herself as one of the most important younger voices on the Scandinavian scene for experimental music and improvisation, both as a composer and as a soloist. With her unique sound, and her tactile and melodic playing on the saxophone, she is known, among others, from the critically acclaimed bands Køs, Caktus and Maraton. Maria Dybbroe has also been a soloist with the Danish Radio Bigband, and has written music for both classical and rhythmic ensembles from string quartet to larger ensembles.

At the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, she will present for the first time her new quartet Maria Dybbroe’s Garden, which includes some of the most interesting musicians on the Norwegian jazz scene right now. Bassist Nicolas Leitrø is known, among others, from the trio ‘I Like To Sleep’ and their collaboration with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra as well as Veslemøy Narvesen’s We Don’t Imagine Anymore and Mats Gustafsson’s Hidros9. Torstein Slåen is known from bands such as Damata and Torstein & Sigurd, while Jomar Søvik is a strong comp musician who, among other things, plays in the band Eir as well as free improv groups such as Dahl/Dalen/Søvik. In this new constellation, they play both completely newly composed material as well as music from Maria Dybbroe's entire catalog as a composer.

Maria Dybbroe har de seneste år markeret sig som en af de væsentlige yngre stemmer på den Skandinaviske scene for eksperimenterende musik og improvisation, både som komponist og solist. Med sin unikke klang, og sit taktile og melodiske spil på saxofonen, kendes hun bl.a. fra de anmelderroste bands Køs, Caktus og Maraton. Maria Dybbroe har desuden været solist med DR Bigbandet og har skrevet musik for både klassiske og rytmiske ensembler fra strygekvartet til storband.

Til Copenhagen Jazzfestival præsenterer hun for første gang sin nye kvartet Maria Dybbroe’s Garden, der tæller nogle af de mest interessante musikere på den norske jazzscene lige nu. Bassist Nicolas Leitrø kendes bl.a. fra trioen ‘I Like To Sleep’ og deres samarbejde med Trondheim Jazzorkester samt Veslemøy Narvesen’s We Don’t Imagine Anymore og Mats Gustafsson’s Hidros9. Torstein Slåen kendes fra bands som Damata og Torstein & Sigurd, mens Jomar Søvik er en stærk komp-musiker der bl.a. spiller i bandet Eir samt friere impro-grupper som Dahl/Dalen/Søvik. I denne nye konstellation spiller de både helt nyt komponeret materiale samt musik fra hele Maria Dybbroes katalog som komponist.
