ABOUT
English
Akira Nakamura’s solo project akira.drums, from Okinawa, blends minimalist visuals with extended, hypnotic rhythmic progressions. With roots in jazz and electronica, and inspired by Steve Reich, Japanese folk music, and krautrock, he creates rhythmically complex soundscapes that, when combined with sleek graphic visuals and layers of electronic noise, form a captivating and mesmerizing experience.
akira.drums is part of Final Descent’s Artist in Residency 2025, where three Japanese musicians will visit Copenhagen Jazz Festival with solo performances and exciting new collaborations. The residency program is supported by Toyota Foundation and The Danish Arts Council.
Halfdan Magnus Stefansson is musician coming from the underground scenes of Copenhagen and Århus. Working with the guitar in an autodidact deconstructive approach, Halfdan works with distortion and feedback at loud volumes, alternate tunings and different objects - using this material both in working bands and with improvised ad hoc meetings.
Active with loud neo-rock band “Bending Backwards”, as a part of Copenhagen punk-legend TS Høeg’s new trio “Psychobillyjazz 3” and with the improvising wall of sound duo “Spiderpeople”. At the same time he works as a promoter of alternative music, organizing events and releasing music through his record label “Movement Shaped Like a Heart”
